Building Up Your Chest Muscles

Explode Your Pecs With Dips

To build chest muscles effectively, you should start by using the dip exercise.  To do this, you need to have two objects that are the same height, such as a bench or a couple of chairs.  These items will need to have sufficient strength to support your bodyweight as you raise and lower your body between these objects.  You should raise yourself by extending your arms, and then let yourself down slowly until your upper arms are level with the ground.  Try to keep from touching the ground when you lower yourself.  Go as many times as you can without stopping to complete one set, and strive for at least 3 to 5 sets.  This is one of the best exercises to build chest muscles, and will also build the tricep muscle on the back of the arms.

Keep Pushing

Another method to build chest muscles is to use the pushup.  There are so many different pushup variations that can help to vary your exercise routine.  Put your hands at shoulder width to perform the standard pushup.  Put your feet up on a chair or sofa to increase the resistance of the pushup.  You can raise your upper body, if you need to make the pushup easier.  You can change hand positions to change the focus of the muscles used.  Placing your hands together on the ground will be a close grip pushup, but placing hands farther apart than shoulder width is a wide grip pushup.  The close grip and wide grip pushups are designed to target different parts of the chest.  Once these pushups become easier, you can do clap pushups or one arm pushups.  These advanced pushups will absolutely demand heavy pushing power, which will quickly help to build chest muscles.

There are several exercise ideas used to build chest muscle, which do not require you to purchase any equipment.  Isometrics can be a useful addition.  One idea is to lock your hands together in front of you, and pull them in different directions.  The idea is to try to pull your hands apart.  An additional exercise is to put your hands together, palm to palm.  Try this time to push your hands against each other as hard as you can.  Isometric drills are done for up to 8 to 10 seconds, and no more than 8 – 10 sets when starting out.  Isometrics are much more effective than you can imagine.  Just a few weeks of these and you will build chest muscles only a few people ever enjoy.
