Can You Gain Muscle Mass Without Getting Fat?
Like most “hard gainers” you need to get from skinny to built in as little time as possible, the problem is how do you get there without putting on excess body fat? The one thing you need to know is how to gain muscle mass without excess fat.
Before you jump headfirst into a muscle building program you need to know that no matter how hard you try you will always end up with some extra body fat. This will only be from the extra calories you will be eating, it’s just how we process those calories. A small amount will always be stored as body fat.
The trick is getting around this. You use a really effective body building trick. Bulk up and then burn it off.
Once you have gained significant muscle mass your metabolic rate will increase making it easier to burn off the excess body fat giving you a huge shredded physique.
There are 3 highly effective tricks you can use to guarantee your gains are not from excess body fat.
1) Choose the right foods
Get this wrong and you will only get fatter. The amount you eat will increase but I will tell you about that shortly. Don’t fall into the trap of eating the wrong foods, you will only be setting yourself up to fail.
Increase the amount of high quality lean meats and fresh fish in your diet. Fibre packed natural carbohydrates, fresh friuts and vegetables. And unsaturated fats like olive oil and fish oils packed with Omega 3.
2) Getting your calorie intake right
You must increase your caloric intake if you want to bulk up. Simply put you need to eat more calories than you burn if you want to bulk up. It is the opposite to a fat burning diet where you burn more calories than you eat.
Don’ fall into the trap of eating everything you can get your hands on. This will only lead to gaining excess body fat instead of muscle. Only increase you caloric intake by 15-25%, anymore than that and you run the risk of putting on fat.
3) Cardio wont hurt
A couple of cardio sessions a week is a simple way to keep your body fat levels down when you are bulking up. You don’t have to jump into a Zumba class, it’s nothing serious. The trick here is to focus on high intensity/short period sessions.
A quick burst of 10-15 minutes on a stationary bike or treadmill will get things moving, thats all you need. This will be enough to burn excess body fat without losing any hard gained muscle.
When you are ready to show off your new ripped physique just increase your cardio, eat less and get ready to impress.
